The first Dialogue was held on April 18 during Earth Week and the theme was extinction.

Dr Lucy Jones introduced Tempo participants Anthropologist Tomo Nishihara and artists Jake Runestad and Todd Boss.  

Anthropologist Tomo Nishihara discussed indigenous people who have been significantly impacted by various environmental changes and endangered species, through his experiences in Africa.

Jake Runestadand and Todd Boss shared selections from their "Earth Symphony", a dramatic monologue for chorus and orchestra, in which Mother Earth tells a post-apocalyptic human story, and they discussed their motivation in creating that piece.
